How to Decorate a Sideboard

Decorating a sideboard can be difficult if you don’t have the right accessories. I.O. Metro has everything you need to turn your sideboard into a focal point. The sideboard is a fashionable, yet functional piece of furniture that looks great in any room and design.
Not sure where to begin when it comes to decorating your sideboard? Don’t fret; it’s easier than you think. Here are a few principles to keep in mind:

  • Use two lamps for balance
  • If you are using a vertical art piece, keep it contained within the length of the sideboard
  • If using horizontal art, it can be longer than the sideboard
  • Depending on the focal point, use simple decorations on the sideboard
  • Keep the colors consistent
  • Offset shapes in art with opposite shaped accessories
In the picture above, we have placed Cycle I and Cycle II framed canvas art, by Buddy Whitlock, as the focal point with the Diamond 4-door sideboard. Hanging the framed canvas art vertically makes the space look taller and confines it to the length of the sideboard. The two Abilene lamps balance and help frame the design. To offset the circles in the art, we have used decorative books to add more defined lines. The silver finials add texture and the color keeps things neutral.
The entire design has neutral colors, yet adds a lot of depth and texture to your room. You can get this look online or at an I.O. Metro location near you. There are many different design schemes you can decorate with and our designers are here to help you piece it all together.
